Why Candlelight?

As we began our initial discussions of what we wanted our games company to be, there were a few obvious requirements.

First and foremost, we wanted a platform to tell great stories.

Secondly, we didn’t want our company name to lock us down into any one genre. 

We felt that part of the magic of Choices, especially early on, was the latitude we had to explore and succeed within a variety of different worlds. So we asked ourselves:

Q: What elevates romance? 

A: A romantic dinner by candlelight.

Q: What elevates horror?

A: A creepy room illuminated by candlelight.

Q: What elevates fantasy?

A: A dark dungeon illuminated by torches… which are sort of large candles? …right? 😬

So candlelight made sense on that level, but it also made sense on another more essential level too.

As long as there has been fire, people have been sitting around an open flame telling stories to each other. Those stories captivated, inspired, and brought people closer together. Some of those stories went on to become the foundation of communities.

And ultimately, that’s our aim at Candlelight Games. We believe that a great game is only the start of the conversation. We're committed to providing our players with spaces where we can communicate and celebrate together - by candlelight and otherwise. 🕯️
